On 21st January 2019 I had a surprise when my dad got home from work, and looked through his mail to find two letters from Buckingham Palace, one of which was addressed to, “Master Harvey Payne”, I couldn’t believe it.

My dad has contacted H.R.H. The Princess Royal a few times as she has very kindly written a foreword for his last two books and also accepted honorary membership to a club who co-founded called the Reliant Motor Club.  Just before Christmas, dad was writing out a card for the Princess Royal and I asked could I send one as well.  Dad said yes, and so I wrote out a Christmas card wishing the Christmas a Happy Christmas and also added an additional message so thank you for making my dad happy by writing the forewords for his last two books. My dad then sent the cards with a covering letter,

I was very surprised therefore to get my own letter.  There were two letters, one for me and one for my dad, in my dad’s letter the HRH’s Office Secretary told my dad that the Princess was most touched by my card and message and as such asked that I was written to separately.

My letter also mentioned my photography, it said:

Dear Master Payne,

The Princess Royal has asked me ti thank you for your lovely Christmas card with its kind message and wishing her a Happy Christmas.  Her Royal Highness was touched that you had thought to write to her and sends you her best wishes for continued success at school and with your photography.
